Nature Hike Rhoonse Grienden (17 km) - FULL
Details
*Please note: the location of this hike has changed. The hike originally planned for De Biesbosch is moved to April 11, due to public transport issues on March 21st.*
This hike will take us to the famous ‘Rhoonse Grienden’, a sweet water tidal area next to the river Oude Maas, just south of Rotterdam. Due to its connection to the river and its closeness to the sea, the water level in the area changes throughout the day. The vegetation consists mainy of pollard willows, traditionally grown for its flexible branches and still used in the same way up to this day. But we will also find an abundance of wildflowers, of which the bright yellow Marsh marigold is the most remarkable (see picture above).
Where to meet: this hike starts at 10am at subway station Rhoon. We will be back at the same subway station around 3.30pm.
How to join: This hike is fully booked. You may sign up for a place on the waitlist on my website.
