A resounding ring-in for the new year!

First, the Mendelssohn violin concerto—one of the most popular and enduring violin concertos of all time. Noelle Lai, our 14-year-old Concerto Competition co-winner, is a pure pleasure to listen to—hold on to your socks because they might be knocked off. And warning, the violin opening tune will be an earworm for days.

Then take part in the Bohemian bonanza of Dvořák’s 7th Symphony. It’s dark, dramatic, hopeful, melancholy, heroic, and intensely personal, showcasing deep Slavic melancholy and triumphant Czech national spirit. While less folk-song-focused than his other works, it still bursts with Czech rhythms, especially in the dancing third movement.

Music Playing:

-Felix Mendelssohn
