It’s 1989 in New York, and for three teens, the world is changing.
Reza is an Iranian boy who has just moved to the city, Judy is an aspiring fashion designer, and Art is Judy’s best friend. Reza knows he’s gay, but all he knows of gay life are men dying of AIDS. Judy's uncle Stephen is a gay man with AIDS who devotes his time to ACT UP. Art is the school’s only out teen who rebels by documenting the AIDS crisis through his photographs.
Reza struggles with an attraction to Art that will break Judy’s heart—and destroy the most meaningful friendship he’s ever known.

This is a casual gathering of gay men held on the third Sunday of the month. We have fun and stimulating discussions about quality gay literature while sharing a potluck meal.
Books are selected by participants several months in advance, and the only requirements for attending are to RSVP, to bring food and/or a beverage to share, and to have read a substantial part (at least half) of the book being discussed.
If you're coming, please add a "comment" on this page saying what you'll be bringing for the potluck, so we're less likely to end up with only one type of food. Store-bought food is fine!
Gather at 6:00 for potluck; discussion begins at 6:45 and ends by 8:30.
Event is at a private residence a few blocks from downtown Berkeley BART, and space is limited, so we are limiting attendance to 10 people, at the host's request.
