Walking Lake Merritt
Details
We will be walking around Lake Merritt. A walk around Lake Merritt is a straightforward, pleasant loop with a mix of city views and open water. The path is mostly flat and paved, with people walking, jogging, or sitting along the edge. You’ll see birds on the lake and pass by spots like the Lake Merritt Pergola and the Camron-Stanford House. Some areas are busy, especially near downtown, while others are quieter. It’s an easy, accessible walk with plenty to look at without feeling crowded the whole way. The walk is 3.1 miles and will take one to one and a half hours to complete.
When we return to start/end point walkers will have the option to extend the journey for 1 more mile. Together we will walk another mile to Oscar Grant Plaza and join the No Kings (No War) Rally.
We will be meeting by the Lake Merritt Amphitheater located on Lake Merritt Blvd. between 12th Street and 1st Ave. Street parking is available but BART is very accessible. Exit at Lake Merritt and walk about 10 minutes to our meeting point.
