Haw Ridge Park Walk w/ETW (5K/10K), Oak Ridge, Monday, Oct 6th 9:00/10:00am

What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a walk in Haw Ridge Park, Melton Lake Greenway, Oak Ridge, TN. The Haw Ridge Park has 30 miles of single path natural trails. We will have both a 10K (6.2 mile) and a 5K (3.1 mile) walk. We will also plan to have an optional lunch/ice cream at D&B's in Solway following our walks for those who are interested. The Haw Ridge Park does allow pets. This is a great chance to explore a new walking and hiking area. Beautiful lake views.

When: The 10K walkers leave at 9:00am and the 5K group will leave at 10:00am on Monday, Oct. 6th, 2025. This is an American Volksport Association (AVA) sanctioned club walk and we have a modest $3.00 fee per walker to cover sanctioning fees and insurance costs. Payment will be made to the walk leader on the day of the walk. Try to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure for registration.

Where: We will meet at the Haw Ridge Park Bicycle Trailhead off Edgemoor Road (Route 170) south of Oak Ridge. (This is across the road from the intersection of Harbour Pointe Ln and Edgemoor Road and is the southern terminus for the Melton Lake Greenway.) Look for the "Neon Green Shirts", as we will be your guides for this walk. There is a port-a-potty restroom available at the trailhead. (Or stop on your way through Solway. Several gas stations available.) D&B's Restaurant is located at 8909 Oak Ridge Highway (The Shoppes at Solway Plaza), Knoxville, 37931.

Details: The walk is on well defined dirt trails and some paved greenway with moderate elevation changes. Some people may wish to bring walking sticks for a few sections that have some uneven stony ground. The 5K would be rated a 2C walk and the 10K would be rated a 3C with more elevation changes based on the AVA rating scale.
