What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a walk along the Third Creek Greenway in Knoxville, TN. We will have both a 10K (6.2 mile) and a 6K (3.7 mile) walk. Come see a grove of wild bamboo in Knoxville. We will also plan to have an optional lunch at the Sunspot restaurant on Cumberland Ave. or Dead End BBQ on Sutherland following our walks for those who are interested.

When: The 10K walkers leave at 9:00am and the 6K group will leave at 10:00am on Saturday, June 13th, 2026.

Registration: This is an American Volksport Association (AVA) sanctioned club walk and we have a modest $3.00 fee per walker to cover sanctioning fees and insurance costs. This is paid at the start of the walk when you arrive. Try to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure for registration.

Where: We will meet in the Tyson McGhee Park parking area near the playground/restrooms on Tyson McGhee Park St. SW, Knoxville, TN 37916. This street is just east of Route 129 off of Kingston Pike (Cumberland Ave.) Look for the "Neon Green Shirts", as we will be your guides for this walk. The optional lunch at the Sunspot (walking distance from the park) will start about 12:00pm, at 2200 Cumberland Ave., Knoxville TN, 37916 or a short drive down Sutherland to 3621 Sutherland Ave.

Walk Details: The walk is a scenic walk entirely on paved greenways with minor elevation changes (less than 100ft). The 6K walkers will see Safety City, bamboo groves, and a Civil War Redan Historic Site. The 10K walkers will additionally see the UT Gardens and the War Dog Memorial (Walking with America's Vets Qualifier), AVA ranking would be a 1A.

Pets are allowed on the walk. However, we will be indoors for lunch.
