Black Oak Ridge 5K/10K Walk w/ETW, Monday, August 17th, 9:00/10:00am
Details
What: Join the East Tennessee Wanderers for a walk in the Black Oak Ridge Area of Harriman, TN. (Just north of the K-25 History Center in Oak Ridge). This is a moderate difficulty walk through a shaded wilderness area. (The surface is a crushed stone roadway.) We will also plan to have an optional lunch at Cazadores Mexican Restaurant following our walk for those who are interested.
When: Monday, August 17th, start at 9:00am (10K) and 10:00am (5K). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure to register.
Where: We will meet at the "Black Oak Ridge Conservation Easement" on Blair Road in Harriman, TN. There are no restrooms at the trailhead. There is a Love's Plaza at Exit 364 on I-40 while heading west. This is the Oak Ridge / Lenoir City exit to Routes 321 and 95. Turn left towards Lenoir City for the Love's Plaza. The trailhead is to your right on Route 95 towards Oak Ridge (about 9 miles). The Cazadores Restaurant is at 1190 Gallaher Rd., Kingston, TN 37763
Walk Details: The walk is a scenic loop walk on gravel roads with some hilly sections. Both walks have over 400ft of total elevation and rated a 3C. (Nearly 700ft for the 10K.) Walking sticks would be helpful for the steeper trail sections.
Pets are allowed on the walk on a leash. However, the crushed stones may be too sharp for tender paws.
