ABOUT Isabel's Amor: You can taste the authentic tradition, history and love in the homemade tortillas and slow-stewed, flavorful chilies. From a family with more than 40 years of successful experience making food-forward memories for generations of local families comes Isabel’s Amor; a comfortable, welcoming and polished Mexican eatery where they serve made-from-scratch dishes alongside a craft cocktail list curated by Beverage Program Consultant and Mixologist Travis Nass. Who is Isabel, you ask? She is lovingly known as Nana Isabel, the matriarch of the Vasquez family whose beloved recipes have fed three generations plus countless neighbors and friends. Her dishes inspired the opening of the Vasquez’s first restaurant, South Phoenix’s Poncho’s in 1972, and the multi-location, family-friendly and fast-casual Someburros. Nana Isabel’s recipes were the center point of every celebration and happy occasion and Isabel’s Amor aims to create loving experiences and memories for all patrons, just like Nana Isabel’s cooking always did for the family. Feel right at home in their cozy, warm wood finished interior and airy-yet-intimate patio while being comforted by dishes just like Isabel used to make. Expect home-style selections like tender slow-cooked chilies, flavorful carnitas, homemade tamales and tortas and flour tortillas made freshly in-house daily. Their menu meshes with agave-forward cocktails that will make a tequila lover out of even the most timid, including a stunning revamped margarita called the Lychee Rose and reinvented classics like the Mexicali Mule.
