What we’re about

We are one of the longest-standing meditation Meetup groups in the valley. We meet every Thursday night from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. to reflect on Buddha's core teachings and meditation practices. Every session includes guided meditation and mentoring to improve your spiritual journey to inner peace.

Our friend NT Hettigei, who has practiced meditation for over 50 years, shares his firsthand experience of Buddha's Core Teaching of The Four Noble Truths. He is the author of Explore Within: A Journey to Inner Peace and Beyond Our Self-Image: The True Story of a Fictional Character and the founder of Ancientpath.org.

This in-person meetup at the Arizona International Buddhist Meditation Center (AIBMC) is free, and you may donate to the temple. If you would like to subscribe to our mailing list, please email us at admin@ancientpath.org to receive updates on special events.

The AIBMC Meditation Center looks like a regular house but is, in fact, a Buddhist temple. There is a hall at the back of the temple (where you'll see the Buddha statue in this meetup cover photo) where we meditate. To enter, please proceed through the carport on the left side of the temple. The door to this hall is on the back left (southwest) side of the building, under the carport. Parking is available curbside or in the church parking lot across the street.

Anapanasati Meditation Practice Day at AIBMC

Anapanasati Meditation Practice Day at AIBMC

432 S Temple St, Mesa, AZ, US

Save the date, RSVP here, and join us for a seven-hour meditation practice on the Buddha's Anapanasati Sutta, designed to provide a transformative experience. This Buddha's best recommended practice is perfect for complete beginners, mindfulness masters, and everyone in between.
An experienced practitioner will guide you through four meditative absorption stages in the Anapanasati Sutta ( Buddha's Direct Path through breath meditation), sharing his own experiences along the way. He will guide you to ease into the practice gradually, and by the end of the day, you will leave with an exceptional experience. If you are ardent in this practice, you will experience the bliss of being alive. With that, you will respond to every situation in your life rather than emotionally reacting to it.

"I was told years ago that the essence of wellness is ego deflation at depth. Einstein says I will not solve any problem with the same level of consciousness that created it. NT and this meditation retreat helped me, I think, in my journey to hopefully realize at least a measure of each condition at some point." – Greg Martin, Apache Junction, AZ.

Date & Time: Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Includes a tea break and a lunch break.

Location: Arizona International Buddhist Meditation Center (AIBMC), 432 S Temple St, Mesa, AZ 85204.

Cost: Registration fee is $30. Please bring your bag lunch for the lunch break. We provide bottled water, hot coffee/tea, and a temperature-controlled hall with chairs, cushions, and mats for your comfort. If you prefer, you may bring your own meditation bench, mat, or pillow.
