Hello all, My next hike will be a new one. It is Round Valley regional preserve just east of Mt Diablo State Park. From the Map the trail seems to be pretty flat with an elevation of 400 feet through out, so not much in the way of elevation gain/loss. Total length of hike will be 6.42 mile if I added up all the little number correctly. East Bay write up states that the area seemed to be a gathering area for several tribes for trade and socializing. The valley later became a farm and ranching operation. To get there take the 680 to Ygnacio Valley Rd, (for those heading south on the 680 get off a North Main offramp going south then go to Ygnacio Valley Rd). Take Ygnacio Valley Rd east to Clayton Rd turn right. Clayton Rd becomes Marsh Rd. Take Marsh Rd to the staging area which is past Deer Rd and on the right. Park in the staging area. As this is a new hike there could be changes to this writeup after I hike during my winter break. Hope to see you there Norman

A note to consider for getting there. From the intersection of North Main and Ygnacio Valley Rd in Walnut Creek head east 7.2 miles to Clayton Rd and turn right onto Clayton Rd. From the intersection of Ygnacio Valley Rd and Clayton Rd travel 14.5 miles to the park entrance. There is a small sign on a post about 100 yard before the entrance and a much larger one at the entrance that faces the wrong way to be read both on the right side of the road. Hope to see you there Norman
