FRIDAY WALK: ALFRISTON-RATHFINNY CIRCULAR (5.5m)

Hi all. This walk takes us from Alfriston, climbing into open country to the Rathfinny Winery. We will walk through the estate, stopping for coffee or a glass of wine at their hut (amazing views) before returning to Alfriston along the river. This is a moderate walk, c.5.5m with one very long, gradual hill up early on.

We can’t eat our own food at the winery but we can enjoy a picnic stop later, either along the riverbank if dry enough, or at the Tye in Alfriston at the end of the walk. Please bring a snack, drink & sitmat.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome and I walk with a friendly hound called Josie.

The free carpark in Alfriston is 3 hours max, which may not be long enough, but there's free roadside parking on North Road, The Furlongs and Kings Ride. We will meet at Market Cross, the triangle at the top of the High Street in front of Ye Olde Smugglers Inne. Please allow 10 mins to park and walk to the meeting point, and please be booted and ready to set off at 1030.

The forecast for the week is mostly dry but if it deteriorates I will change the route as the riverbank may otherwise be too muddy. If Friday is wet I will cancel the day before. If you are unable to attend on the day, please call or text me on 07764 677363 in case I can't access MeetUp.
