Join us for another fun weekend camping at the Mount Buffalo Caravan Park and exploring Mount Buffalo National Park with its spectacular granite cliffs, crisp fresh air, giant tors, deep gorges, tumbling waterfalls, Snow Gum woodlands and masses of summer wildflowers and views of the nearby Alps.

Booking accommodation/campsite:
The caravan park provides different accommodation options. Visit their website for options, availability, fees and to book. Bookings can also be made via telephone on 03 5756 2235.

Getting there:
The Mount Buffalo Caravan Park, set on the junction of the Ovens and Buckland Rivers is situated at 13 Harrison Lane, Porepunkah, three to four hours’ drive north-east from Melbourne along the Hume Highway. Exit onto the Great Alpine Road (B500) and continue until you reach Porepunkah. From there, follow the signs/local roads to the caravan park.

Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending. It is your responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing. Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Organisers do their best to minimise waitlists where possible, and priority will be given to reliable members who attend regularly and contribute positively to the group experience.

Fitness Level
A good level of fitness, experience in bush hiking and the ability to maintain a good steady pace is required to complete these 3 day hikes.

What to bring:

  • All camping equipment (depending on accommodation option) and enough food for three days.
  • proper hiking boots/shoes
  • rain/wind/sun protective clothing and SPF50 sunscreen
  • personal first aid kit.
