Join me for a challenging hike around Wesburn in the Yarra State Forest. We’ll start with a walk back to view the Britannia Creek falls before retracing our steps past the caves area and heading out on a circuit route. This area is rich in timber history and features lush, green ferny sections under a tall tree canopy.

The morning section will be physically demanding, with short, sharp steep ascents and descents. While the very steep sections are brief, the track can be slippery and uneven. Both downhill and uphill stretches have multiple short, steep humps that require good leg strength, balance, and hiking shoes with strong grip. Poles are highly recommended as tracks will be slippery in any weather. After lunch, the hike eases off along a wide gravel vehicle track, which is mostly flat. We may encounter vehicles or trail bikes, especially being the weekend.

Meeting place:
We will meet on Britannia Creek Road in a small car parking area next to Britannia Creek Caves in the Yarra State Forest. The road is about 20 minutes from Warburton township and becomes partly gravel past the main residential area of Wesburn. While low-clearance cars can manage in dry conditions, a 4WD is easier. Please carpool where possible, as parking spaces are limited.

Please do not RSVP to any Eastern Hiking & Adventure event unless you are fully committed to attending. It is your responsibility to check the date, distance, and difficulty of the walk before RSVPing. Members who frequently withdraw at the last minute, fail to show up, arrive without being on the "going" list, or behave disrespectfully towards leaders or fellow members will be asked to leave the walk and may be removed from the group. All leaders are unpaid volunteers who invest a great deal of their own time to plan and research each walk. Their efforts deserve respect and consideration. Organisers do their best to minimise waitlists where possible, and priority will be given to reliable members who attend regularly and contribute positively to the group experience.
