Advanced Barefoot Hike, Upton State Forest

Details

Sorry, Everyone... Been really busy. Saturday morning is free so I thought I'd throw this out there ans see if anyone can join me on short notice...

We'll take a 3.5 mile hike following Loop Road and Park Road through beautiful Upton State Forest. This is a challenging workout for the feet which will put your pads to the test. This kind of hiking builds your foot muscles and thickens your pads. The trail is mostly packed dirt and bank gravel (roundish stones from pea size to fist size and larger). We have one nice long hill to climb which is all stone. We should figure on at least a couple of hours for the hike, although I usually do this route after work in just a bit more than an hour.

Anyone in our group is welcome to come. Newer hikers please bring backup shoes with you unless you are very sure of your ability. I would never recommend that anyone use shoes for anything except maybe to light a bonfire. However, this is a pretty tough trail and I don't want anyone to suffer.

Meet in front of the main CCC building. When you pull off of Westboro Rd take the right most driveway (which leads up hill to the buildings). Look for barefoot people.

Everyone should bring plenty of water. I've never had a problem here but everyone should also bring tick repellent.
