Woodpecker Walk

Join park naturalist and avid birder Rob Bergstresser for an in-depth look at the “rock star drummers” of the avian world! Pennsylvania is home to 7 species of woodpeckers that provide a vital “framework” for our forest ecosystem. We’ll cover the basic biology and identification of all 7 species, and take an easy 1.5-mile hike around our Day Use Area in search of signs of woodpeckers. Please wear sturdy walking/hiking shoes, and bring water and insect repellent if needed. *Rain will cancel the hike.
We will be meeting at the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC) for this walk.
