Walking History & Nature Tour
Details
The Coolbaugh Township Historical Association in partnership with Tobyhanna State Park is sponsoring a walking history and nature tour of the remains of Icehouses No. 2 and No. 3 at Tobyhanna State Park, led by Bill Leonard from the CTHA and Stephanie Sherman, Environmental Education Specialist from the Tobyhanna State Park. The State Park was once the site of two huge icehouses about a century ago. Today, only portions of the foundations and the railroad spur that serviced the icehouses remain. Participants will hear the history of the area surrounding the State Park, including the lumbering era, the Tobyhanna Military Reservation, the natural‑ice industry, and the natural history of the State Park.
The walk will be approximately 2 miles and is considered easy in difficulty. The tour will begin at the Tobyhanna State Park boat ramp.
