Monday Rocks!: Diabase
Details
***Meeting location: Ringing Rocks D & L Trailhead, 1975 River Rd, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972***
All rocks are pretty cool but not all of them are built the same. This Monday Rocks hike, join a state park naturalist for a hike and talk on diabase, the igneous rocks that make up the area of Ringing Rocks Trailhead. We will discuss how these rocks represent Pennsylvania’s fascinating history with ancient fault lines and how rocks can be shaped by both lava and ice.
For this hike, we will be covering roughly 4 miles in length round trip. The terrain will be quite steep and rocky. Please bring water, sun protection, and appropriate footwear for hiking. You may also bring along any snacks you may want. For further information, reach out to Annastasia Soto at [annsoto@pa.gov](mailto:annsoto@pa.gov).
- Bathrooms: There is no restroom in the parking lot. Once we get to Ringing Rocks County Park, there will be a porta-John.
What to Bring: Water & snacks
