Every Tuesday at 6PM, traffic on the Dumbarton Bridge, just outside of Palo Alto, creeps to a halt, as youthful and happy-go-lucky tech workers poor out of their techno-jobs and head home all at once, creating a 10 mile Christmas tree of brake lights, frustration, and, stop-and-go traffic, if you're in a car.
As traffic accumulates, assuming there's no special events or accidents, what should be a 30 minute drive becomes a nearly 2 hour or more nightmare-commute that is grueling and, in our mind, unnecessary.
Meanwhile, directly adjacent to all this traffic lies a wonderfully paved bike lane that is traffic-free and beautiful to ride on right as the sun is coming down over the Pacific. Let's bust some traffic on our E-bikes (http://www.motostrano.com/E-BIKES-electric-bicycles-s/4468.htm) and enjoy an evening ride to Fremont for some great inexpensive Indian food and back and hopefully raise some questions and eyebrows of those stuck in traffic, enticing them to ask "hmmm, maybe I should consider an e-bike for my commute?".
We will meet at Motostrano (http://www.motostrano.com)'s Redwood City location at 5:30 PM Tuesday and be on the road by 6. We'll meander through town, over the 101, to the Bay Trail as the traffic starts to rear its ugly head. We'll pass by the shiny new and dusty old Facebook (http://www.facebook.com) Headquarters and make our way over the bridge on a warm San Francisco Night overlooking a sleepy San Francisco Bay. Once to other side we'll find our way through suburbia to a kind of Little India enclave at Gateway Plaza (http://www.weingarten.com/retail/property/0260-077/)where we'll dine at Dosa Hut (http://www.dosahut.us/) before making our way back in the dark. Bring all the lights and sound you have, as we will want to stir up some attention to our ride and turn some heads. Sound fun? Come along!
It should be about a 1 hour ride to the Dosa Hut.
This ride is sponsored by Currie Technologies (http://www.currietech.com/), iZIP (http://www.motostrano.com/Currie-Technologies-Electric-Bicycles-s/4976.htm) and Raleigh Bicycles (http://www.raleighusa.com/). Currie also powers the world famous YUBA Spicy Curry Electric Cargo bike (http://www.motostrano.com/Spicy-Curry-Mid-Drive-Electric-Cargo-Bike-p/iz-spiecy.htm). Todd from Currie will be with us (it's likely the smell of Curry that is hooking him in) and will have extra e-bikes to ride from the 2016 and 2015 Currie Technologies model year. If you don't already own an e-bike this will be a wonderful way to test out a great ebike for the evening and we highly recommend joining us if you yourself commute across the Dumbarton bridge!
PLUS People who show up can enter our drawing to win a FREE E-BIKE!!! Izip is taking entries at demo and Expo events through Aug. 31st, and will announce a winner in September… The winner get a free 2015 iZip Dash
