Coyote Lake Harvey Bear Entrance in Gilroy-Ebike with No Cars-Ebike trails only!
Details
First half of ride we will ebike the hills around Coyote Lake on fire roads as well as single track trails. These trails are rather steep in places, and so a high torque mid-drive ebike or strong rear hub drive is recommended. We will not be speeding on these trails, so pace will be leisurely, as the scenery is spectacular. 2nd half of ride, we will ride a short distance on the Gilroy Hot Springs road road to the Hunting Hollow staging area in the Henry Cole State Park, and then continue up the canyon dirt road for a few miles. This canyon is super nice, with 15 stream crossings, most of which are only a foot wide, but 2 or 3 crossings are 6 ft. wide and 6" deep. Bring your picnic lunch, as we will stop in a nice spot in the hills to eat lunch. Estimate 20 mile total ebike ride distance, with hilly conditions, so a second ebike battery may be necessary, depending on how much you pedal. Numerous wildlife will be encountered. Wild turkeys, deer, birds of all sorts. Bring binoculars if you like. Spectacular views of the lake from numerous lookouts.
All departure and return times are approximated. Please keep this in mind if you were going to make plans to return at a certain time, which is discouraged.
