Introducing new Art workshops in Eccles! All classes are delivered by Hannah Brown, an experienced Artist and Arts Facilitator based across Manchester and Salford. The workshops are an opportunity to learn new skills and develop your art making in a relaxed and supportive environment. The lessons cover a range of activities including Painting, Sculpture, Print making and Crafts. All materials are included. ART FOR ENJOYMENT

Our popular Art for Enjoyment classes run every Wednesday evening, 6.30 - 8.30pm, from our fantastic Art Studio based in Patricroft, Eccles. The classes are relaxed, friendly and supportive. You are encouraged to make artwork at your own pace and in your own style.

The classes are an opportunity to develop your art making skills and knowledge with access to great facilities, materials and equipment. The classes primarily focus on painting and drawing techniques, and we cover a range of topics, themes and ideas.

Tuition, materials, equipment and refreshments are included within the price and onsite parking is available. The cost per class is £12 for a single lesson or four consecutive sessions at £40.

Please note that sending an RSVP on Meet Up does not automatically provide you a place - you must pay via the website first. You will then be contacted via email with our Covid Policy and further information about the class.

Art Inspiration Short Course
Thursday evenings during term time
6.30 - 8pm
£45 for 5 consecutive classes / £12 for a single lesson

Learn about the history and techniques of different artists and art movements through practical creative lessons. We are delighted to offer a series of 5 week short courses, designed to give you bite-sized nuggets of art inspiration that you can apply to your own painting and drawing projects. This course is open to all and is suitable for absolute beginners and those who wish to develop their art practice in a social and creatively engaging environment. Every session will begin with an informal presentation and an introduction to a new theme. You will have the opportunity to view demonstrations and to explore new techniques at your own pace.

Autumn 1: 22nd, 29th September, 6th, 13th and 20th October
Theme: The Great Outdoors

  • Artists and their Gardens - be inspired by Impressionists Claude Monet and Berthe Morisot to create a painting in acrylics
  • Wondrous Woodlands - take inspiration from pastel drawings and oil paintings of Wolf Khan and create your own colourful imagery of trees
  • Fluid cityscapes - using watercolours and wax resist techniques, make architecture studies inspired by Friedensreich Hundertwasser
  • Expressive landscapes - Learn about David Hockney’s art making processes and produce your own painting of the British countryside in his style
  • Crumbling ruins - Create a mixed-media artwork of an old building that references the work of John Piper

Autumn 2: 10th, 17th, 24th November, 1st and 8th December
Theme: Organic form

  • Floral studies - take inspiration from Georgia O’Keefe’s masterpieces and produce a beautiful painting in acrylics
  • Pumpkins aplenty - Explore the spotty work of Yayoi Kusama and create a pumpkin study using graphic marker pens in her style
  • Pioneers of Arts and Crafts - Produce gorgeous drawings of British wildlife inspired by the work of William and May Morris
  • A Cabinet of Natural Curiosities - Be inspired by Albertus Seba’s extensive collection of specimens from across the globe and make pen and ink drawings of unusual natural forms
  • A Jungle in Paris - Observe the work of Henri Rousseau and make a painting depicting tropical flowers, leaves and wild animals

Spring 1: 12th, 19th, 26th January, 2nd and 9th February 2023
Theme: Rethinking Still Life

  • Everyday objects - transform images of common, regular and seemingly boring objects into bright, vibrant and eye-catching paintings that reference the work of Micheal Craig-Martin
  • From every angle - reflect on an assortment of objects through the eyes of a Cubist and produce a composition inspired by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque
  • Tabletop flowers - Take inspiration from the likes of Vincent van Gogh and produce a study of a vase of flowers in a media of your choice
  • Observations of the familiar - Create beautiful drawings and paintings using pen, ink and watercolour that reference the artwork of Lisa Milroy
  • Cacti and House Plants - embrace pattern, flat colour and bold lines while producing a painting of pot plants in the unique style of contemporary artist Jonas Wood
