About us

Edinburgh Dog Care Exchange is a community for dog owners who want to build a trusted local network where dogs can regularly meet and enjoy time with familiar canine friends, and where owners can occasionally support each other with dog care when needed.

Many of us sometimes need help when travelling, working long hours, dealing with emergencies, or simply wanting time away. At the same time, some dog owners have flexible routines, enjoy canine company, and are happy to offer occasional help. This group brings those people together in a way that prioritises trust, familiarity, and the dogs’ wellbeing.

The focus is not on “borrowing dogs”, but on relationships between dogs and people that develop over time. Dogs are not treated as a transaction or a service, but as social animals who can become comfortable visiting familiar friends and enjoying time together. Through regular informal meetups in parks and public spaces, dogs and owners can get to know each other gradually and see which combinations work well.

Over time, this may lead to situations where your dog is genuinely happy to spend time with a trusted friend, and you feel comfortable doing the same in return, knowing there is mutual understanding and care.

There is no pressure to exchange contact details or make arrangements. The emphasis is on meeting, building trust slowly, and allowing both people and dogs to form natural connections.

This is not a commercial dog-sitting service. It is a community of responsible dog owners supporting each other through long-term trust, familiarity, and mutual respect.
