About us
This is a private group created for women and individuals who identify as female, aged 50 and over, who love life or are looking to love life more. Our aim is to connect and build a warm, active and supportive community, where we can share life experiences, form genuine lasting friendships and have fun together. Whether you are newly retired, an empty nester, new to the area or just looking to expand your social circle with like minded people, who understand this stage of life, you belong here.
We aim to provide a wide and varied range of events that are of interest to our members. We are always open to suggestions for new things to try. We regularly organise trips to the theatre and cinema. We meet for coffee and lunch and visit galleries and exhibitions. We organise walks and the occasional away days to places like Dunfermline and North Berwick.
To protect the privacy and comfort of our members, this group is strictly private. We require members to treat each other with kindness and respect and we operate a zero-tolerance policy for judgement or discrimination of any kind.
Please have a clear and up to date photo on your membership profile showing your face. This helps the event host identify you as an attendee and keep us all safe. Also please use a minimum of your first name and another identifying initial or qualifier. If this is a problem for you, please contact one of the organisers to discuss.
All organisers and event hosts are volunteers and we and members of the group meet as a group of friends. We do not have public liability or any other type of insurance cover. All individuals attending any of the events hosted by the group are entirely responsible for their own health and safety. The Group, group organisers, event organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to such.
We are not a commercial enterprise and we do not charge a membership fee but to help cover the costs of the fees incurred running a MeetUp group, we accept donations (suggested amount £1) at events.
Please keep your RSVP up to date. Please change your RSVP to 'not going' or remove yourself from the waiting list asap, if it turns out that you can't make an event. This should be done a minimum of 48 hours before the event, except in exceptional circumstances, to ensure that someone else has a chance to replace you. If your name is on the waiting list, we expect that you are available to attend that event if a place becomes available, except if a place only becomes available on the day. If you find that you can not attend on the day of the event or the day before, you must contact the event organiser directly. Failure to do so will result in you being marked as a no-show. Three no-shows, within the space of a 6 month period, will result in removal from the group for a period of 3months.
If you have not had any direct interaction with our group page for more than 6 months, we reserve the right to remove you from the group.
