About us

This group is for women who are 50 and over and love life or are looking to love life more. If you would like to connect with other women to have fun, for social support, to chat and make friends then this is the group for you. We aim to provide a wide and varied range of events that are of interest to our members. We are always open to suggestions for new things to try.
Please read the following points, which contain important information on how the group runs.

1. You are asked to bring along £1 in cash to each event you attend. This money is to cover the cost of the Meetup fees for running the group.

2. Please change your RSVP to 'not going' or remove yourself from the waiting list asap, if it turns out that you can't make an event.  This should be done a minimum of 48 hours before the event, except in exceptional circumstances, to ensure that someone else has a chance to replace you.

  1. If you can not attend on the day, you must contact the Event Organiser directly. (If in an emergency this is not possible, please do so as soon as you can.) You can contact the Event Organiser privately via the direct messaging facility on the App or in the comments section for the event (visible to all attendees) or via text to organiser, if they have provided their mobile number. Please do not change your RSVP to "not going" on the day. The event organiser will mark you as absent or change your RSVP depending on circumstances once you contact them.
If you fail to contact the event organiser, you will be marked as a "no-show."

  2. NO SHOWS - not turning up or changing your RSVP to not going on the day, with out contacting the organiser directly, will count as a No Show (This will not apply if you have been moved from the "Waiting List" to "attending" only on the day of the event but this should not occur if guideline no.3 above is followed ) If you have three 'no shows' within a 6 month period, you will be removed from this group for a period of 3 months after which you can apply to rejoin.

5. Events fill up quickly once they have been publicised but we will aim where possible to list events on the website for 48 hours before announcing, so it pays to check the website/App regularly. If an event you want to attend is full, please add your name to the waiting list. Many times people drop-out and you may find you are transferred to 'going' at which time you will get a notification to let you know. This is done in time order of when you joined the waitlist, except for " + members" who have priority. Those are MeetUp's operating rules not ours.
Please keep your RSVP up to date at all times. If your name is on the waiting list we expect that you are available to attend if a place becomes available, except if place only becomes available on the day, which should not happen - see no.3 above.

6. Every 6 months the organisers will review the membership data. If you have not shown any activity e.g. attended an event, RSVP'd or visited the group page in that period according to MeetUp records, you will be considered inactive and removed. If you feel you have extenuating circumstances, please contact one of the organisers.

7. Please have a clear and up to date photo on your membership profile. This helps the event host identify you as an attendee, especially if you are fairly new to the group.

8. All organisers and event hosts are volunteers. We do not have public liability or any other type of insurance cover. All individuals attending any of the events hosted by the group are entirely responsible for their own health and safety.

We hope as a group that we will build supportive, fun, positive, non-judgemental, fully accepting and friendly relationships together. If you have any problems, complaints or suggestions please contact any of the organisers.
