What we’re about
A place to make new friends, socialise and learn about languages and culture in friendly language-focused mini-meetups!
The Edinburgh Language Exchange aims to foster a community of individuals interested in exchanging experiences and knowledge on languages, travel and culture, from all over the world. Our Code of Conduct sets out the basic Be-Nice rules, to ensure a convivial and inclusive atmosphere!
We strive to ensure our meetups are open to everybody, whatever their language experience - it's not your level that counts, it's all about the desire to communicate!
We host several meetup events as of 2023 :
* All-languages: pub meetup on Wednesday evenings - a self-organising social where you can come and chat and exchange language skills, cultural discussion, and make friends.
* French, Italian, Spanish or English: cafe meetup on Saturday mornings - a hosted social for people to meet in the quiet of a cafe to start the week-end with a smile, exchanging language skills, learn from others, teach others, over coffee, tea and maybe some viennoiseries or cake ;-)
* Spot meetups organised by members who have their own passion for languages - cafe events, walks, cinema outings... if you would like to have your own language-oriented event and announce to the group, get in touch !

Find us: ask the bar staff for the Language Exchange when you arrive
Meet us: introduce yourself to the group on arrival, or introduce yourself to pretty much anyone :-)
Or: Can't find your preferred language? Ask someone at the event for the evening's organiser, or send the organisers a message on Meetup, to ask about becoming an Event Organiser to host for the language you are interested in !

If you fancy an evening of socialising and a chance to practise languages with others, come down to our multilingual chit-chat.
The All Languages evening is a self-organising event: we welcome each other in a spirit of openness and exchange
The proceedings are simple:
Step 1: turn up to our venue at the centrally located Brew Dog bar on Lothian Road
Step 2: Look for the group ! Ask the bar staff where we are
Step 3: Introduce yourself to someone! Anyone! Tell us what languages you speak, and what languages you want to practice.
Step 4: Have lots of fun!
