About us
Edinburgh has a rich calendar of classical concerts, opera, theatre and other cultural events. This group turns those evenings into an easy way to meet people who enjoy the same things.
We don’t organise the performances or buy tickets for you. Members share events they are already planning to attend. Anyone who wants to join books their own ticket, and we set times and places to meet nearby beforehand, catch up in the interval, and often stay for a drink afterwards.
Whether you usually go alone, you’re new to Edinburgh, or you already have people you go with but wish to expand your circles, sign up and just come and say hi.
Typical evenings:
- A concert at the Usher Hall, Queen’s Hall or St Giles’
- An Opera or ballet at the Festival Theatre
- An afternoon of chamber music at St Cecilia's Hall
- Any other interesting cultural event people in the group are already going to
Look at the listings, RSVP to the ones that suit you, and join us for the parts around the performance. The event is the occasion; the group is the company.

World-renowned Scottish director Sir David McVicar brings his visionary storytelling to bear on Puccini’s epic, final opera in this, its centenary year.
### The stakes could not be higher
An Emperor’s court decays around him; a princess, haunted by inherited trauma, plays a deadly game of riddles; a visiting prince takes one look and decides to risk his life for love.
Reuniting with the creative team behind 2023’s award-winning Il trittico, McVicar confronts the darkness of the work head on, neither flinching from Turandot’s trauma nor excusing Prince Calaf’s recklessness. Instead, he uncovers a deeply moving tale of two lost souls trapped between fear and desire, until compassion and courage change everything.
Stuart Stratford conducts The Orchestra of Scottish Opera and a stellar cast, with Trine Bastrup Møller, Victor Starsky, Insung Sim, and Hye-Youn Lee (La bohème 2025), through some of opera’s most stirring music – including ‘Nessun dorma’ and ‘In questa reggia’. With opulent set and costume designs by Charles Edwards and Doey Lüthi, and spectacular lighting by Ben Pickersgill, Turandot’s gothic splendour comes to life in what promises to be a production like no other.2 attendees
