New venue- Potions and Rations on Broughton Street
The Edinburgh Art Club is pleased to announce The Edinburgh Comics Club, a monthly social event for comic lovers & creators.
We are a welcoming community for comic lovers and creators of all backgrounds. We meet to share ideas, discuss favourite comics, and stay creatively active. Alongside conversations about artists, characters, and storylines, we also draw, sketch, and explore our own projects together.
Members are welcome to bring any artwork they’re working on so we can chat, share ideas, and support each other’s creative growth. The group is open to experienced artists, complete beginners, returning hobbyists, and anyone who has ever wanted to draw/write comics or simply talk about them.
We’re are currently working on a short collaborative comic 'zine with a the goal to collect our work into a small anthology to share with the group and hopefully sell.
There is still room for more submissions if you to get involved and we are open to all suggestions, ideas, and possibilities that might grow from this for future projects.
The city of Edinburgh is full of talented comic artists and storytellers, and this group aims to bring people together, build friendships, and spark creativity through a friendly, inclusive, and inspiring comics community.
For this meetup we will further discuss our ideas and share any progress we have made with our individual stories.
We can also share some of our own solo work (however developed or rough it may be, this is a judgement free zone where we all want to improve) for reviews and any constructive criticism.
As the group progresses there is still room for change and new ideas, including venues and how often we meet etc.
For future meetups we can decide together what the format meetups may take: drawing sessions, themed prompts where everyone creates a short comic (one, two, or more pages — whatever suits each person), and then discuss the work at the next meetup. We could talk about the art, the storytelling, what works well, what could be improved — friendly, constructive conversations.
