What we're about

I have decided to set up this group to give adult amateur pianists, of ALL abilities and ages, the chance to gain valuable performance experience in front of a friendly and supportive crowd of fellow pianists. The meetups will take place in the beautiful Edinburgh Society of Musicians who have two fabulous Steinway grand pianos and a stunning view over Dean village.

We're Into November Already! Come Join Us And Celebrate Everything Piano!

Where has this year gone? It's already November and getting colder, so come and join us online for some fun piano playing and socialising with the Edinburgh Piano Meetup Group. As always, I am looking for all levels of playing, from total beginners, people who haven't played for years, anyone working towards an exam, who have a piece prepared that you are itching to perform, or just anyone who just wants to socialise and enjoy some wonderful music (any genre of music all welcome), come and share it with our friendly, fully supportive and encouraging Edinburgh Piano Meetup Group on Saturday 7th November from your own home and your own piano at 2:00pm. As before, for the sake of fairness everyone has a maximum of 6 minutes each. You can play/say whatever you like within your time slot - it's up to you! Please bear in mind, though, that if you venture over your time this leaves the possibility of another member not getting a chance to play. This is also a super opportunity for you all to get in the kitchen and bake some goodies to enjoy during the session. I expect to see the odd glass of wine there too :-) Keep practising and I look forward to welcoming you all online on the 7th November. *Please note - there will be no interval. The event will run for approx. 60-90 minutes and we will try and squeeze in as many performers as we can. There is no requirement to stay for the whole thing or join from the beginning but it would be good to have as much of an audience as possible. As we are continuing live performances please note that sound quality can be affected by the equipment you have. However, if you can configure Zoom using the settings, below, this will help enormously. What will also help is either connecting a set of headphones or an external speaker to your computer and connecting a USB mic (available fairly cheaply from Amazon). If anyone needs any help please get in touch. ZOOM CONFIGURATION: We will be using Zoom (available from zoom.us) and instructions as to how best configure your audio settings can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VblimspZcEqTb77hhnqM2cCLDDp-p7s9atxU_oKnQwk/edit?usp=sharing.
