Another great line up for our June Virtual EEA Meetup, we can't wait to see you there!

Schedule

5pm - Intro and welcome from Conor Svensson

5.15pm - Julio Faura, Founder and CEO of Adhara, a VC backed company that builds CBDC, cross border payments, Fx and liquidity management platforms for financial institutions, central banks and corporates, leveraging smart contracts and enterprise-grade blockchain technology.

Title: "Wholesale CBDCs and commercial bank coins: how they will revolutionize payments”

The recent communication from the Bank of England announcing the creation of central bank omnibus accounts marks the official start of the wholesale CBDC era as this enables the issuance of central bank-backed tokenized money for real. CBDCs and other forms of tokenized money such as commercial bank coins will be instrumental to transform interbank payment infrastructures, particularly in the case of cross currency and cross border payments, allowing them to work in real time, with less operational errors, costs and need for reconciliations, while also reducing the associated liquidity needed and the resulting counterpart risk. Banking groups with international presence and cross border payments activity are among the first to benefit from these trends, both by using CBDC and commercial bank tokenized money layers for interbank settlement as well as leveraging the same tools and methodologies based on blockchain and tokenization to optimise their internal payments and liquidity management operations.

5.45pm - Breakout Rooms - your chance to network!

6.15pm - Dr. Weijia Zhang, EEA Regional Head of China at Enterprise Ethereum Alliance Vice President of Engineering, Wanchain Foundation

Title: "Crosschain Interoperability"

Crosschain interoperability is defined as method, protocols, or mechanism that synchronically or synchronically convert or transfer assets, messages, data, and commands from a source blockchain to a target blockchain. With the development of both public and private blockchains, crosschain interoperability has become a top priority and must-have for blockchain infrastructure and token economy. In this seminar, we will present challenges, user cases, current solutions, architecture, decentralization, security considerations, and specifications effort for crosschain interoperability.
