Coding for beginners in JavaScript at Learners Guild (Oakland)
Details
This is a workshop for complete beginners to coding. We'll sit down together in a group and write some code in JavaScript!
This class is being co-hosted by First Step Coding and Learners Guild.
First Step Coding (https://firststepcoding.com) is a 4-week part-time introduction to coding. Many students use FSC as a springboard into full-time immersive programs.
Learners Guild (http://bit.ly/learners-guild) is a 10-month full-time program designed to allow anyone with the right drive to pivot into software engineering -- without taking on debt. The program is highly selective, but admitted learners are eligible to receive up to a $1,500 monthly stipend while enrolled.
By the end of the evening, you will be able to:
• Understand the difference between “front-end,”“back-end,” and other common coding terms.
• Know the answers to your big questions about coding.
• Use variables, if / else statements, and methods to solve problems.
• Prove that you, yourself are capable of writing code!
What you need to know/prep beforehand:
• Please plan to arrive on time.
• You must be comfortable using a computer.
• You do not need any coding experience.
• Please bring a laptop with the Chrome browser installed. You can download it here (https://www.google.com/chrome/).
