About us
Effortlessly Aware is a simple North Seattle gathering for people who like meditation, walking, thoughtful conversation, and meeting others with similar interests.
We meet in a local park, walk together, pause for a short meditation, then keep walking and talking. Sometimes we continue afterward for coffee, food, or another nearby activity.
Nothing complicated. No experience required.
What a gathering looks like
• Meet and say hello
• Walk together for a while
• Pause for about 10 minutes of simple meditation
• Walk some more and talk
• Optional coffee, food, or hanging out afterward
The meditation is simple and lightly guided. This is not a class, and you do not need to know anything about Zen, Buddhism, mindfulness, or meditation before coming.
The culture
We want it to be easy to show up as yourself.
• Conversation is welcome. Silence is welcome too.
• Ask before giving advice.
• Listen and give people room to speak.
• You can always pass or step away.
• Respect people's privacy, boundaries, identities, and backgrounds.
Who this is for
Anyone interested in meditation, contemplative practice, philosophy, awareness, nature, Zen, Buddhism, nonduality, or simply spending time with thoughtful people.
You do not need to believe anything in particular or follow a specific tradition.
What this is not
Effortlessly Aware is not a spiritual school or teaching organization. There is no doctrine, guru, or expectation that anyone has the answers.
It is simply a recurring place to walk, sit quietly for a few minutes, talk, and get to know people.
Where
North Seattle.
