About us
Eight at a Table is a warm, neighborly community-building organization for curious, adventuresome people who want to meet others, enjoy a shared gathering, and learn from different life stories.
At its heart, Eight at a Table is about bringing people together who might not otherwise meet. A Round of Eight Event may include people from different ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, neighborhoods, generations, professions, political perspectives, socioeconomic backgrounds, religious or non-religious backgrounds, and life experiences. The point is not to make everyone agree. The point is to create a table where people can be curious, kind, open, and willing to listen.
We welcome people to an environment where people can relate with curiosity and empathy.
A Round of Eight is meant to be enjoyable, human, informal, and memorable. It may be a dinner, coffee, brunch, dessert, or another simple gathering. The structure is light, but the purpose is meaningful: real conversations, new perspectives, and the possibility of new friendships.
Eight at a Table exists to build community through shared conversation.
It helps people:
• Meet people outside their usual circles.
• Learn about different backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, and life stories.
• Practice respectful conversation across difference.
• Experience curiosity, empathy, and openness.
• Enjoy a night out that is fun, informative, and neighborly.
• Make new friends.
It is a community of curious people gathering around a table to share stories, ask thoughtful questions, listen well, and leave with a wider view of the world.

Back Forty, Fun Stories & New Perspectives
Join us for the third Eight at a Table gathering — a Round of Eight at Back Forty Beer Company in Huntsville.
This Round of Eight is a small, welcoming get-together for curious people who want to meet others, hear different life stories, and enjoy real conversation in a relaxed setting. It is not networking, dating, debating, politics, religion, or a sales pitch — just a friendly table, good vibes, and new perspectives.
We’ll gather with up to 8 people, including the hosts, called the Table Tenders. Feel free to invite a guest (please let us know about them when you register so we can get the right-size table).
When you get to the venue look for the logos and a succulent centerpiece on the table. We will sit outdoors as it can be a bit loud inside (unless the heat is unbearable!). We will do some quick introductions and then go to order.
The Table Tender will welcome everyone, help the conversation flow, and offer a few optional Table Sparks if we need a fun prompt.
Back Forty has great food and drink options - we love Truck Stop Honey and the Kale Salad! There are a variety of food and beverage options. Back Forty Website
Most people can probably eat for about $10–$20 before tax and tip, Everyone is responsible for their own food and drink expenses.
Come curious, kind, and ready to meet new people. We’ll keep the conversation lighthearted, fun, informative, and rooted in curiosity and learning.
