In the weekend of 14 , 15 and 16 February there will be the famous festival named Carnaval.
What is the meaning of Carnival?
It became a period of celebration and debauchery before Lent, a 40-day period of reflection and sobriety leading up to Easter. The name "carnival" likely derives from the Latin carne vale, meaning "farewell to meat."
In this weekend there will be several Parades in a lot of towns specially in Limburg and Brabant.
One of the famous Parade is on SUNDAY 15 February in MAASTRICHT

You will go together with the train to Maastricht, to enjoy this beautiful parade together. From Maastricht station you will walk together to the Markt which will be the center of the festivities

The parade in Maastricht is named:
Carnival Parade "Boonte Störrem" (The Colorful Storm)
On Sunday, the carnival parade takes place, organized by the city carnival association De Tempeleers. The parade features a colorful collection of often themed floats, hermeniekes (music groups), carnival groups, and associations.
