About us
This is a group for hiking in El Dorado county. Both locals and non-locals welcome. Varied days/times, varied lengths and difficulties -- from casual walks to mountains. Varied locations too, but usually on the western slope. Hikes are usually posted a few days to a week before they happen. Pick the events that work for your schedule/interest.
The hikes are free, with free parking as well, except when otherwise noted. It costs us $299 a year to stay on Meetup, so donations are appreciated.
Rules:
- No dogs allowed. Unfortunately, although the dogs were blameless, their owners have repeatedly risked the safety of people, dogs and wildlife in and out of the group. Ignoring this rule will result in immediate removal from the group.
- If you can't make it, change your RSVP -- even if you don't know until 1 minute before the meetup start time, change your RSVP at that time so that we don't wait around for you.
- If there are people RSVPed who haven't arrived yet, we'll generally wait 5 minutes (sometimes longer depending on the circumstances).
- If there's a wait list for a meetup, people with a history of no shows will be removed to make room for those more likely to attend. When there's a wait list, please try to update your RSVP at least a day in advance if you can't make it.
- You hike at your own risk. We try to keep people from getting lost or injured, but you are ultimately responsible for yourself and knowing your limits.
- Any sort of bigotry (based on gender identity, race, religion, etc.) is unwelcome and would result in removal. Should go without saying, but in these times we live in it needs to be said.

Cedar Park to Fleming Meadow
Cedar Park Trail, 5568 Sly Park Rd, Pollock Pines, CA, USStarting from Cedar Park Trail (pictured) we'll hike ~7-9 miles into the Fleming Meadow trail system. It's an out and back, we'll go however far we get while returning before dark. The trail takes us through forest (and some burn scar) above a creek, through a little waterfall, past an ancient car wreck, and over the Jenkinson Lake spillway (which is spectacular when spilling, and should probably still be spilling). Significant but non-extreme hills.
The parking lot is along Sly Park Road, enter "Cedar Park Trail" in google maps to find it or look for the sign. It's a small lot, but you should be able to park along the street if it fills. There's also a larger dirt parking area about half a mile west, you can walk the paved trail from there.
May still be a little snow on the ground, so be prepared for that just in case. Edit for update: Looks like the snow has melted already according to https://www.fs.usda.gov/sites/nfs/files/r05/publication/R5_SnowDepth_Map.html
