Let's enjoy the unseasonable December warmth in South Lake Tahoe. We'll start at Sawmill Pond, which has a little parking lot off Sawmill Road just before Lake Tahoe Blvd. From there we'll hike up Twin Peaks if there's not enough snow to present any issues doing so (and at it looks like there shouldn't be). These peaks rise a thousand feet from the valley floor to provide some great views of Lake Tahoe. Expect about 5 miles of hiking, some of it flat and some of it steep.

Note there will be an exploratory aspect to this as I haven't done it before and there are several possible approaches. If winter presents any issues with Twin Peaks, or if people want to add more miles, the same parking spot offers access to the many trails of Washoe Meadows State Park.

Current forecast is mostly sunny with a high of 57 F and no chance of rain/snow. Any snow showers at Echo Summit would cancel.
