EID Main Ditch - Old Carson

This is a perfectly flat hike through some beautiful forest, along the side of the El Dorado Irrigation District's main ditch. The ditch transports water from Kyburz down to Pollock Pines for irrigation and power.

EID expressly does not maintain the ditch for recreational use, so hike at your own risk and try not to fall into the ditch because you'd never get back out. That said, this section doesn't require catwalks and is easy if you don't do something stupid.

We'll go 90 minutes out, then 90 minutes back, however far that takes us.

To find the parking, simply follow Old Carson Road about a mile until you approach the bridge over the ditch. Park in the wide dirt area on your left before the bridge.
