Tombstone Mountain is a little-known BLM trail in Diamond Springs with a steep climb to a spectacular view. Hiking poles recommended. Also features two creeks (Deadman and Martinez).

Tombstone is exhausting, but only ~2 miles. If you want more distance after it we'll head over to another Diamond Springs trail on Faith Lane for another 3-6 miles (which will extend the 1.5-2 hours into 3 or 4).

Parking for Tombstone is on the gravel shoulder of Church Mine Road, about 3/4 of a mile south of where Church Mine splits from Union Mine. You'll see the trail up the mountain on your left and will park on the right just past that.

Rules reminder:

  • No dogs allowed.
  • If you can't make it, please try to change your RSVP so that we aren't waiting for you. Even doing it a minute before start time helps.
  • You hike at your own risk. We try to keep people from getting lost or injured, but you are ultimately responsible for yourself and knowing your limits.
  • Any sort of bigotry (based on gender identity, race, religion, etc.) is unwelcome and would result in removal.
