What we’re about
This is a group for hiking in El Dorado county. Both locals and non-locals welcome. Varied days/times, varied lengths and difficulties -- from casual walks to mountains. Varied locations too, but usually on the western slope. Hikes are usually posted a few days to a week before they happen. Pick the events that work for your schedule/interest.
The hikes are free, with free parking as well, except when otherwise noted.
Rules:
- No dogs allowed now. Unfortunately, although the dogs were nice, their owners created too many liability issues by refusing to follow the law and risking the safety of people, dogs and wildlife in and out of the group.
- If you can't make it, change your RSVP -- even if you don't know until 1 minute before the meetup start time, change your RSVP at that time so that we don't wait around for you.
- If there are people RSVPed who haven't arrived yet, we'll generally wait 5 minutes (sometimes longer depending on the circumstances).
- If there's a wait list for a meetup, people with a history of no shows will be removed to make room for those more likely to attend. When there's a wait list, please try to update your RSVP at least a day in advance if you can't make it.

See all- El Dorado Trail @ Amber Fields NorthEl Dorado Trail @ Amber Fields, Bullard, CA
From the Amber Fields starting point, we'll take the El Dorado Trail north through a rural area toward Cameron Park. Out in the light, back in the dark, so bring a light. While the high temp will be hot, it should be comfortable at hike time. Expect scenic sunset vistas across the valley, chickens, deer, a mysterious Pepsi machine. A few steep hills but mostly fairly level. Expected distance 6-9 miles.
Take South Shingle Road, and turn onto to Amber Fields Drive. Park and gather in the big dirt area at the end of the public part of Amber Fields just before the gate.
