About us

We are a group of people who like to get together and discuss novels available in English. We've been thriving since 2014 (take a look at all our past events!) but since Meetup dramatically hiked up their fees, ELB(A) has now migrated to Heylo instead, and there are no member dues there.

The ELB(A) Meetup group will close on 25th September 2026, but anyone can still view our past events until Meetup finally pulls the plug. We are very grateful to everyone who stayed with us and paid member dues in the last year to subsidize the Meetup organizer fee, but we are relieved to have found a free alternative.

Please now join ELB(A) on HEYLO instead, as all future book discussions will be announced
there. Just click on this ELB(A) invitation link.
You should see a description of our group, with a Dropbox link to the 2026-2027 programme at the top of the page and a "Join" button at the bottom.

The first required step is to create a Heylo account with a name, password and
profile photo (up to six photos if you like to vary it!)
Then your request to join the new ELB(A) group on Heylo is sent to the organizers (John
and me).
One of us will accept your request to join and that's it - you are signed up for ELB(A) announcements and can RSVP to the first meeting. Everything else will be just as before.
