Exploring Maryland's Eastern Shore: A Scenic Cycling Adventure

36.8 miles. Picnic is in Bellevue Community Park after 22 miles (after the ferry ride from Oxford): https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48701837 Toilets are available in Oxford (Harbor Freight) and at the beginning and end of the route.

Parking: Easton Plaza Shopping Mall, 101 Marlboro Ave, Easton, MD 21601.

This scenic loop ride between Easton and Oxford, Maryland, offers a classic Eastern Shore experience. The route features visits to quaint towns, a ferry ride across the Tred Avon River, and opportunities for sightseeing in St. Michaels if you follow the longer route. The 36.8-mile route does not visit St. Michaels.

It's a flat ride on quiet country roads and busy local highways, with a wide shoulder earmarked as a bike lane (Oxford Road and Highway 33).

NOTE: This ride is unsuitable if you do not like to e-bike near motorized traffic. Oxford Road and Route 33 have fast motorized traffic. Cyclists follow a wide shoulder, officially designated as a biking route, but you are near fast traffic. You are hereby warned! We cross Route 50 using traffic lights.

The Oxford-Bellevue ferry is a highlight, providing a historic crossing that adds charm to the journey. This ride is perfect for those heading to the shore or exploring the area.

Established in 1683! The nation’s oldest privately owned ferry service! A 20-minute round-trip ferry service accommodates vehicles, trailers, RVs, passengers, bicycles, and motorcycles. 7 Days a Week (9 am – close - normally around 5 PM). They do not accept Credit / Debit Cards. They accept cash, checks, and Venmo.
