Picnic: Little Red Barn Ice Cream Cafe (14 miles into the route).
Toilets in the beginning, middle, and end.
These new (nearly) entirely paved routes loop through the rolling country hills around Frederick, MD. There are 4 versions of this route that range from 35 miles up to almost 80 miles. The routes are all (mostly) the same until almost the very end, at which point the longer two routes make another, different, large loop. This means that folks who are riding the longer routes can stay with those riding the shorter routes for almost the entire first half of the longer rides.
There are restrooms at the start, and a few more distributed fairly evenly throughout the ride. All routes have suggested break points listed on the Ride With GPS route that include restrooms and convenience stores, so you can grab a cool drink or food en route.
We'll mostly be on scenic country roads with minimal traffic, and we'll be biking right through downtown Frederick! The longest route has a smattering of gravel roads, all of which are pretty hard packed and easy to navigate. The longest route also has a ford near the end (marked on the map) that you can bike across, or walk your bike across. Your feet will probably get a bit wet while crossing the ford, so considering bringing a pair of flip flops for that part.. as far as fords go, this one is not too bad.
