3-day 2-night Fall Foliage Jim Thorpe Adventure in the Pocono Mts of Pa
After you select GOING you will be sent a link to join the 2026 JIM THORPE ADVENTURE Whatsapp Group. Select the link to join. If you do not request to join the Whatsapp group within two weeks of saying you are going your status will be automatically moved to NOT GOING. After being accepted into the JIM THORPE Whatsapp group you must monitor the group randomly until mid-September to stay informed of all information that has been posted. In September you will be asked to turn on your Whatsapp notifications to be alerted when current info is posted.
Due to the limitations of the passenger van as well as the U-Haul trailer there will be a limit of 12 participants. I will create a wait list once the first twelve participants have paid their $35.00 shuttle/van fee. The information on how to pay the fee will only be sent via Whatsapp once you have been accepted into the private JIM THORPE Whatsapp group. Watch for the info on how to pay your $35.00 fee after you have been accepted into the group. Joining the group is required, however you can change your status to not going at any time and stay in the group or be removed. To be clear joining the Whatsapp group or simply saying you are going does not guarantee you a spot on the Adventure until you have paid the $35.00 shuttle fee, it only keeps you informed of information that is posted. No information will be posted on this E-Bike lovers meetup site going forward.
PLEASE RE-READ EVERTHING ABOVE AGAIN SO IT IS CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD. On Previous adventures. People signed up as going then never joined the Whatsapp group which left the organizer in limbo to know accurate participation numbers for important planning data.
Day 1 we will meet at the Conewago Recreation Trail head, time TBD, and ride the 40ish mile Lebanon Valley Rail Trail from Elizabethtown to Lebanon out and back.

Riders may choose to skip the day 1 ride and only do the D&L Rail Trail to Jim Thorpe.
Day 2 we will meet early morning time TBD in front of JC Penny's at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Allentown to load bikes on U-Haul trailer for transport to Glen Summit/Mountain Top to ride the D&L Rail Trail 35ish miles to Jim Thorpe. Riders will be transported, approximately 1 hour drive, via 12 passenger van to Glen Summit.

Jim Thorpe has many activities on the first three weekends in October and riders are welcome to spend an extra day in Jim Thorpe if they choose returning to Allentown on Monday Columbus Day.

What to expect:
Live music at multiple outdoor stages
Artisan & craft vendors throughout downtown
Food tents & local restaurants offering seasonal specials
Scenic train rides on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway
Peak foliage views from town, Flagstaff Mountain, and the Switchback Trail
This festival is the anchor event for Columbus Day weekend every year.
Concerts at Penn’s Peak
Venue: Penn’s Peak, 325 Maury Rd, Jim Thorpe This venue regularly hosts major shows throughout October, and the events calendar confirms ongoing concerts in 2026. Expect at least one major act on Columbus Day weekend.
Ghost Walks & Haunted Tours
Ghost tours through the historic district
Paranormal walks near the Old Jail Museum are not yet listed for 2026 in the search results, but they recur annually and are typically announced mid‑summer.
Downtown Street Vendors & Special Shop Events
During Fall Foliage Festival weekends, downtown shops and restaurants run:
Sidewalk sales
Seasonal menus
Pumpkin‑themed treats
Extended hours
Spaces for this Adventure will be guaranteed based on receipt of your $35.00 shuttle fee. Number of participants shown on Meetup as GOING does not equate to number of participants having paid their shuttle fee and having a reserved spot. A spreadsheet will be sent on Whatsapp to paid participants showing who has said they are going and who has paid their shuttle fee along with other info.
Currently we do not have a support vehicle lined up. Plan accordingly.
The E-Bike Lovers Meetup messages/chat will not be used to communicate with participants.

Details:
Minimal elevation, mostly flat terrain. However, there is one noticeable elevation out and back on the Lebanon Rail trail, but it is only a couple hundred feet over a little over a mile. We will mostly be on a slight decline on the D&L rail trail from Glen Summit/Mountain Top to Allentown.
Final Ride with GPS routes will be posted later if there are changes to what is posted here. Bernie, the organizer, insists all participants have the below RWGPS routes loaded on their device. As an E-Bike Lover member RWGPS IS FREE
An extra battery is highly recommended
A portable battery pack is highly recommended, so your mobile device stays charged throughout the ride each day. Minimal to no cell service at times on route.
Participants are responsible for their own accommodations. Shared options may reduce costs and be highly encouraged. There are plenty of lodging options before and in Allentown for Friday night. Due to the popularity of the Foliage events around Jim Thourpe, I highly suggest you book your lodging now with a cancellation option in case of any unforeseen situations.
There will be a video conference call scheduled sometime the last few weeks before the adventure to finalize last minute details
PLEASE! Always update your status on the meetup page if you originally selected to ATTEND and then your situation changes. If you joined the Whatsapp group, you could remain or remove yourself.
As usual, non-assisted bikers are most welcome.
Action Items:
If interested, click the attend button so that you will be included in all planning updates and discussions with other participants after you join Whatsapp. Paying your shuttle $35.00 fee confirms your place on the adventure. A wait list will be used once 12 participants have paid their shuttle fee. All participants must make a final commitment to their participation by October 1st, 2026. It is highly suggested that you book your lodging as soon as possible with a free cancellation option. Keeping in mind Jim Thorpe is a popular Leaf Peepers location. For planning purposes, Bernie asks you to keep your status updated if your plans change.
