33.4 miles. Kenilworth Gardens and National Arboretum
Toilets beginning, middle, and end. Picnic at Kenilworth Gardens.
OK. So we were shut out of the Lotus and Water Lily Festival by Canadian wildfire smoke and good-natured WABA picnickers fighting to keep Hains Point for the People!

We offer you this replacement ride and a chance to participate in the festival, sort of. We hope to still see some blooms! Join us. Take off work! Call in well!
There are two routes for this ride. A shorter 25-mile route that takes us to Kenilworth Gardens and back to the start at Hains Point. The second, longer route continues on to the National Arboretum before returning to the starting point. The arboretum is quite beautiful; the route involves some urban street navigation, so be forewarned.
The picnic is in the Kenilworth Gardens after 12.5 miles. When you arrive at the gardens (after the short dirt access road), walk your e-bike into the park. Pass the toilets and the visitors center (on your left) and go straight to the picnic area. There are bike racks. Bring a lock for when you tour the gardens.
Kenilworth Gardens is a one-of-a-kind destination within Anacostia Park and it is a hidden gem in Washington, DC. The summer lotus and lily blossoms are a must-see during their peak-blooming period in July, not unlike cherry blossom season in the spring.
Two routes for your riding pleasure:
DC Trail 7B - Shorter - E-biking from Hains Point to the Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens - 25.2 miles
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46907025
DC Trail 7A - E-biking from Hains Point to the Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens and National Arboretum - 33.4 miles
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46889229
To avoid the crowds, we will park at the most south-eastern parking lot all the way at the end (not at the golf course) on Hains Point.
Please bring some snacks, lunch and plenty of water. Bring a lock for your bike as no one will be assigned to watch bikes while we tour the gardens.
