Fence Permeability Survey - Last time attending these locations.

Details

This will be the last hike out to these cameras as the survey ends this month.

Saturday, March 22nd, volunteers will be needed to assist the leaders with heading out and retrieving the three cameras from both survey locations along the Park fence line. The two hikes on Saturday are approximately 4 km (~2 hrs.) and 8 km (~2.5 hrs.) in length. Pick which one suits your abilities. Learn how to use GPS and trail cameras. We are now giving volunteers access to some of the highlight photos taken over the past year.
Volunteers have to be current members of the Friends of Elk Island Society. The membership costs $15 for individuals, $25 for families and $5 for students. To become a Friends member, visit [https://www.elkisland.ca/membership](https://www.elkisland.ca/membership) or contact Norm at norm.cameron@elkisland.ca.
The survey may involve climbing an eight-foot fence and hiking on snow or ice-covered roads, trails, or both. We hike areas not usually travelled by the public. We advise you to bring water and a light snack. Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear are required. The Friends will supply all the necessary equipment for the survey.
We will meet at the Visitor Centre parking lot at 10:00 am at the south entrance to the Park. Volunteers will be briefed and paired with the leaders and may be required to drive their vehicles to the survey location.
