Buddhist meditation - Five Practices to Free the Heart and Mind - Day retreat
Details
Lead by Akuppa, an Order member of Triratna.
Triratna teaches a broad approach to Buddhist practice, a ‘whole life’ practice rather than one that is confined to the meditation cushions. On this day retreat, we’ll be looking at examples of what that might look like in practice. We’ll look at five simple everyday practices drawn from the areas of meditation, ethics, wisdom, reverence for the Buddha, and contributing to Sangha. The day will be an opportunity to reflect on what a ‘whole life’ practice might mean for you.
Akuppa was ordained into the Triratna Buddhist Order in 2000 and has been teaching at Newcastle Buddhist Centre, in the north of England, during that time, as well as being Chair of the centre and establishing it in its own premises. He has also worked as a Buddhist chaplain in prisons, and has a strong interest in Buddhism and the natural world, and wrote ‘Saving the Earth: A Buddhist View’ in 2009. He is currently visiting Japan for the third time.
Come on a comfortable outfit for meditation.
