Tweed Ride & Eastern Suburbs Brewery Cafe Tour - Intermediate 42 kms
There are a surprising number of brewery cafes tucked away in suburban areas, often close to our shared paths. We shall visit a couple of these establishments to sample their wares, and have a jolly good get-together with friends over an ale and some nice food.
For added fun this is a **Tweed Ride**, involving dress in casual street clothing (ideally some tweed or woollens for warmth). Any bike is suitable but ideally a classic, retro or vintage bike if you have one, or if not, your least bling ride (any bike will do).
This is an INTERMEDIATE grade ride.
The tour will commence from Ringwood railway station at 10am.
We will ride along the Eastlink Trail in Ringwood and through Koomba Park to the Dandenong Creek Trail to Jells Park for morning tea before diverting along the Ferntree Gully Rd path and Ferny Creek Trail to visit Project Brewing Company, which has some great food options (not much that is vegetarian) as well as beers to sample. We then continue on Ferny Creek trail to Ferntree Gully, then to Boronia on the Railway Trail where we will visit Hard Road Brewing. They also do pizzas here. From here we will continue along the Railway Trail and work our way back to Ringwood. If people are feeling seedy at this stage a shorter return using the train from Bayswater is an option..
\*Ride responsibly, take the train if the hills get too much

GREAT OCEAN ROAD & TWELVE APOSTLES
Explore the Great Ocean Road in a small group of 10. Enjoy ethical wildlife, Chocolatery, the Twelve Apostles and Wildlife Park with snacks, a free drink, instant photo and carbon-offset tree planting
This Great Ocean Road day tour is designed for travelers who want more than a standard sightseeing loop. With a maximum of 10 guests, the experience focuses on storytelling, ethical wildlife encounters, honest pricing, and responsible travel. By booking this tour, you support protected wildlife and nature through our tree-planting carbon offset program.
Everything listed is included in the price — no hidden fees, no upgrades, and no pressure to spend more during the day. Instead of rushing between stops, the itinerary is carefully paced to allow time to explore, listen, and connect with the landscape.
A journey with meaning
Leaving Melbourne, the day begins with a relaxed stop at a local chocolaterie, giving everyone time to settle in and get to know the group. From there, the journey follows the iconic Great Ocean Road, where every stop is tied together with stories rather than scripts.
At the Memorial Arch, learn why this road is considered the world’s largest war memorial, built by returned soldiers and shaped by resilience and history.
Iconic coast, unhurried
Feel the scale of the Southern Ocean as you descend the Gibson Steps to sea level. Spend quality time at the Twelve Apostles, with space to explore, photograph, and absorb the scenery without feeling rushed. Continue to Loch Ard Gorge, where dramatic cliffs frame one of the Great Ocean Road’s most powerful shipwreck stories.
Designed routes, not repetition
The tour travels along the coast on the way out and returns via an inland route, offering different landscapes and a more engaging journey rather than repeating the same road twice.
Honest, all-inclusive experience
There are no extra charges during the tour. Complimentary snacks, a free drink, and a printed Instax instant photo are included as personal touches. Lunch and dinner are not included by design, allowing flexibility for different dietary needs, preferences, and beliefs.
To give back to the environment, trees are planted to offset the carbon emissions created by this tour, ensuring each journey contributes positively to the landscapes visited.

Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail Ride: Ballarat to Linton Return (~80km)
Join me for a full-day rail trail ride on the Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail.
For this trip, we’ll ride the Ballarat to Linton section and then return the same way. The Ballarat to Smythesdale and Smythesdale to Linton sections are listed as around 20km and 17km respectively, so this plan works out to roughly 75–80km return once station access is included.
The Ballarat-Skipton Rail Trail is a high-standard rail trail with a mostly fine gravel / crushed granite style surface. It should be a scenic and steady day out, but it is still a long ride, so please read the fitness and bike notes before RSVPing.
This ride is best suited to people with reasonable fitness who are comfortable riding at least 80km at around 15km/h. Please only RSVP if you are confident with that distance and pace.
As this is an unsealed rail trail, a bike suitable for rail trail riding is recommended, such as a gravel bike, hybrid bike, touring bike, or mountain bike.

**Rough timeline**
* 6:45am – Meet at V/Line Tickets and Information, Southern Cross Station
* 7:15am – Catch the train from Southern Cross
* Morning – Arrive in the Ballarat / Wendouree area and start riding towards Linton
* Midday / early afternoon – Breaks and lunch along the way depending on pace and group needs
* Afternoon – Turn around at Linton and ride back towards Wendouree
* Evening – Return from Wendouree by V/Line
Possible return train options from Wendouree include 6:37pm, 7:17pm, 8:12pm and 9:17pm. We can decide on the day depending on pace, breaks, train availability, and how the group is feeling.
**Tickets**
There is no event ticket required, but everyone is responsible for their own public transport fare / Myki or V/Line travel requirements.
**What to bring**
* Helmet
* Front and rear bike lights
* Puncture repair kit / spare tube
* Enough water for a full-day ride
* Lunch and snacks
* Weather-appropriate clothing
* Bike suitable for unsealed rail trail riding
* Any personal medication or essentials you may need during the day
**What to expect**
* Distance: Roughly 75–80km return
* Difficulty: Moderate to challenging because of the distance
* Pace: Around 15km/h average riding pace
* Surface: Mostly fine gravel / crushed granite rail trail surface
* Vibe: Friendly, practical, low-pressure, but suited to people who are comfortable with a long ride
**Important notes**
This event is weather dependent and will not go ahead if rain is forecast.
This event is also dependent on V/Line train availability. It may need to be cancelled or changed if there are coach replacements, major timetable changes, service disruptions, or if bike space becomes an issue.
V/Line bike space is not guaranteed. Bicycles can be carried only if space is available, and the conductor decides whether bikes can be carried safely. Ballarat services are generally listed as having limited bike space, so please arrive early and be prepared for the possibility that travel with bikes may not be possible on the planned service.
Large groups with bikes can be difficult on V/Line, so this meetup works best as a smaller group ride.
Please only RSVP if you are confident riding the full distance at the expected pace and are comfortable riding on unsealed rail trail surfaces.
**Other info**
We’ll keep the ride social and supportive, but this is still a full-day cycling trip, so each rider should be reasonably self-sufficient with water, food, basic bike repair items, and fitness for the distance.
High Country Rail Trail Ride: Wodonga to Sandy Creek Bridge and Back (~50km)
Join me for a full-day regional ride on the High Country Rail Trail, riding from Wodonga to Sandy Creek Bridge and then returning to Wodonga.
This is a scenic rail trail ride through north-east Victoria, with a mix of sealed and gravel sections, views around Lake Hume, and the 600-metre Sandy Creek Bridge as the main turnaround point.
This is not a beginner ride. Reasonable fitness is required, and participants must be comfortable riding at least 50km at around 15km/h, while also managing the long travel day, train timing, and regional logistics.
We’ll meet at 6:45am in front of the V/Line Tickets and Information office on the ground floor at Southern Cross Station, then catch the 7:07am train to Wodonga.
From Wodonga, we’ll ride out to Sandy Creek Bridge, take breaks along the way, and then ride back to Wodonga. The plan is to take the 5:38pm train back to Melbourne, arriving at Southern Cross around 9:45pm.
Please only RSVP if you are confident with the distance, pace, early start, full-day timing, and the possibility of changes due to weather or V/Line disruptions.
This will be a relaxed and friendly ride, but it is still a long regional cycling day. Solo attendees are very welcome, as long as you are comfortable with the ride requirements.

Timing may change depending on pace, breaks, weather, train availability, and any V/Line disruptions.
**Tickets**
Everyone is responsible for organising their own V/Line ticket / Myki fare.
Please check the fare, timetable, and service status before the day. This trip depends on being able to take bikes on the train, and bike space is not guaranteed.
**What to bring**
* Bicycle in good working condition
* Helmet
* Front and back lights
* Puncture repair kit
* Lunch
* Enough water for the day
* Snacks
* Weather-appropriate clothing
* Sunscreen
* Myki / V/Line ticket
* Phone with enough battery for the day
**What to expect**
* Distance: About 50km+ return
* Difficulty: Moderate to challenging due to distance, pace, early start, and full-day logistics
* Pace: Around 15km/h average riding pace
* Vibe: Friendly, relaxed, practical, and low-pressure, but participants need to be self-sufficient
**Important notes**
This event is **weather dependent** and will not go ahead if rain is forecast.
This event is also dependent on **V/Line train availability**. It may need to be cancelled or changed if there are coach replacements, major timetable changes, disruptions, or if taking bikes on the train becomes impractical.
The 7:07am service currently shows limited designated bike storage, but bike storage is shared with luggage and availability can vary depending on patronage. Bringing a bike on board is **not guaranteed**.
V/Line staff and conductors decide whether bikes can be safely carried on the service. Please be prepared for the possibility that bike space may be limited.
Please only RSVP if you are comfortable with:
* Riding at least 50km
* Maintaining around 15km/h
* Riding on gravel / rail trail surfaces
* Carrying your own food, water, and repair gear
* A very early start and late return
* The possibility of cancellation due to weather or transport issues
**Other info**
This is a group ride, but everyone is responsible for their own bike, equipment, safety, transport fare, food, water, and ability to complete the ride.
You do not need to be a fast rider, but you do need to be comfortable riding the full distance at a steady pace so we can make the return train.
