Sourcing the Regent's Canal - Urban Hike
Sourcing the Regent's Canal - Urban Hike
Walk length 12 miles/19 km approx. Linear. This is an epic urban that takes us from one end of the Regent's Canal at Paddington Basin to Limehouse Basin in the East Regent's Canal was built between 1812 and 1820 to link the Grand Union Canal at Paddington with the Thames at Limehouse as part of a much larger urban plan by the town planner John Nash. After a varied history of water commerce throughout the 19th and 20th centuries the canal finally closed to commercial shipping in 1969. Today the canal is used extensively for pleasure cruises and leisure with the canal being perfect for cyclists and walkers. There are a huge number of features on this quite long walk, but some highlights we will try to see along the canal route will be Camden lock, Islington tunnel. THERE IS THE OPTION TO CUT TO HIKE SHORT ALONG ROUTE. Please note there may be some canal detours depending on any engineering work or building development. Walk Cost: ÂŁ4 cash on the day organizer fee (the host is a qualified London guide). For paypal it is 'colin45@hotmail.co.uk' Please send as friends and family to avoid charges. For bank transfer message organizer. Lunch and Finish: Bring water, snacks for the walk, we will stop off for an early lunch stop at Camden for about 30 mins, This walk should finish at about 5pm and include pub stop at the end, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace. Knowing Who You Can Trust
Knowing Who You Can Trust
Your survival depends on knowing who you can rely on. But how can you tell who your real friends are? How can you determine if a person will help make a joint venture successful? Is there a way to predict behavior? Yes. There are fundamental elements to human behavior. When you know them you have insight into your fellow man, and just by observing how people act, you will know *everything* about them. #### On this lecture you will learn: * The important role of trust in human relationships. * The Hubbard Chart of Human Evaluation—the tool to know true character and predict what people will do. * How to evaluate others accurately and guarantee a more certain future for yourself and those you care about. With the knowledge you learn on this course, you will have tools to know who you can trust and who you can depend on. *“Trustworthiness is a highly esteemed commodity. When one has it, one is considered valuable. When one has lost it, one may be considered worthless.”* *—L. Ron Hubbard*

Tottenham Court Road Picture Hunt
Tottenham Court Road Picture Hunt
**Meet at Tottenham Court Rd tube outside the main exit.** **"Tottenham Court Road**, a market road, or street, leading from Oxford Street to the prebendal manor of Tothill, Totenhall, or Totenham Court, described in Domesday, and originally appertaining to the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's. In 1560 the manor was demised to Queen Elizabeth for ninety-nine years, in the name of Sir Robert Dudley." In 1639, twenty years before the expiration of Queen Elizabeth's term, a lease was granted to Charles I., in the name of Sir Henry Vane. In 1649, being seized as Crown land, the manor was sold to Ralph Harrison, Esq., of London, for the sum of £3318 : 3: 11. At the Restoration it reverted to the Crown; and in 1661 was granted by Charles II., for the term of forty-one years, in payment of a debt, to Sir Henry Wood. The lease was next possessed by Isabella, Countess of Arlington, in the reign of Charles II., from whom it descended to her daughter, the Duchess of Grafton; and in this way was inherited by the family of the Fitzroys, Dukes of Grafton, descended from Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland, the notorious mistress of Charles II." **Check out the Flying Horse pub (1793) opposite the tube exit. Previously " The Tottenham", this is the only surviving pub in Oxford St. See pics below.** This is another of our many outside Picture Hunts this year. If any issues with weather, we’ll switch to our 50-50 Trivia in the nearby Wetherspoon Magnus Pyle, so turn up as something will be on regardless. If you’re new to Picture Hunts, check the previous weeks for winners and clue sheets. This time, the event will be centred around different buildings, shops and features on one side of Tottenham Court Rd, so there’s no crossing of busy roads. This road is not touristy like Charing Cross Rd opposite. Please aim to turn up for 1:00-1:30 when teams are being arranged. The Hunt starts at 1:30. You're losing search time if you're late! Bring a pen please. As usual, portions of the road are split up into four areas where teams search for the locations of photographed items in the street, buildings or shop windows, and then record where they found them. Picture Hunts are a great new way to get up to speed with slices of London history while sleuthing around the area. Everyone is presented with twenty partial photos of objects around an area. Your team mission is to find them. Some well known, some well unknown! This makes Picture Hunts more interesting and challenging, bringing out the best of your teams detecting skills. You will also have a map of the area. It will be sub-divided into four sections, P, Q, R, S. Each photo will come from one of these. Four players max per team, but the lower number teams get a point per player start from the biggest team. For example, four teams of one, two, three and four. Four player team, no advantage, (the biggest and theoretically the more knowledge between them, except it doesn't always work like that). Three player team, one point start. Two player team, two point start. One player team, three point start. Scores are always close and around the 15-20 points mark. How many players do you want in your team? There's a dilemma! The clipboard holder enters one of the letters to note its area location. Dead simple, right? 90 minutes to do the hunt. We have the usual prizes of chocolate, including some great new varieties. There is also an equal prize for the funniest team name judged by Sue, my glamorous assistant. Names win prizes too! So there’s everything to play for. We mark up at the quiz finish point. The Wetherspoon Magnus Pyke. Hunts are good fun and the proven experience so far is that members get to know each other better after working in teams as you all have to communicate. Great icebreakers. This is what Meetup is all about. Come and join us. **There is a £7 cash/card charge for this event. Pay on the day.** Contact number is 07422334411 if your transport is delayed. **If you can’t make it, please cancel using the “Edit RSVP Button”.** **Your consideration is greatly appreciated.**

Pitch.London - Founder Matchmaking & Speed Problem Solving
Pitch.London - Founder Matchmaking & Speed Problem Solving
Pitch.london is a curated speed-networking event for founders, operators and serious builders. Short, structured conversations. Sharp prompts. Real chemistry, fast. The hardest problem in early-stage entrepreneurship is finding the right people. Most events leave it to chance. We don’t. The room is curated, the prompts are clear, and the format is built for high-signal encounters between people who are actually building something. In one evening, you can meet more relevant people than you might in months of random networking. Two formats. One room. Zero fluff. **01\. Founder matchmaking pitches** Sixty seconds to share who you are, what you’re building, and what would actually help right now. Whatever you’re looking for, the room is built to help you find it: people to build with, people to hire or be hired by, advisors and investors, or honest feedback on what you’re shipping. **02\. Group brainstorms** Small, time-boxed groups tackle a real challenge brought into the room. Bring a live problem you’re stuck on. Get five minds on it for ten minutes. Leave with new angles and next steps. **This room is for you if you’re:** * A founder seeking a co-founder * A founder seeking a first hire * An operator looking for a serious team to join * A technical builder open to commercial partners * A commercial builder open to technical partners * A second-time founder scoping the next thing * An angel investor close to the early-stage scene It’s probably not for you if you’re hunting for clients, selling services, or still working out what you’re looking for. **Run of show** * 17:30 to 18:00 Doors, drinks, soft start * 18:00 to 18:05 Welcome and the rules of the room * 18:05 to 18:35 Speed pitches: Round 1 * 18:35 to 19:15 Group brainstorms * 19:15 to 19:45 Speed pitches: Round 2 * 19:45 to 20:00 Open networking, then drinks at the citizenM Skybar **What’s included** Your £25 covers your seat in the room and a drink at the citizenM Skybar after the programme. **First 30 in get a seat**

Years spent living in customer problems, making prioritisation calls under uncertainty, and shipping products across competing constraints is excellent preparation for building a company from scratch. The question remains which skills to activate first and which to actively develop before making the leap. This event convenes a panel of Product Managers who have successfully made the transition into founding — and are building companies today. Drawing on first-hand experience, they will cover what most founder talks omit: the PM skills that translate into a genuine competitive advantage, the capability gaps that require deliberate development, and a grounded, month-by-month account of what the first year of building demands. The result is a practical, unvarnished briefing designed to help you make an informed decision about the leap — and, should you choose to make it, to make it well-prepared. **Our speakers:** [Emma Burrows](https://www.linkedin.com/in/emma-burrows/) \- Founder @ Rezonant\, Ex\-CTO @ Stripe UK [Sean Jayakrishna](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sean-jayakrishna/) \- Product Manager @ Checkout\, Former Founder As always we will close our meet-up with a candid discussion and Q&A. In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
In Person Event: The Secrets to Mental Health
Mental Health, how do you understand it? How can you improve it? How do you get rid of stress, anxiety and uncertainty? These emotions are buried deep in your reactive mind. Find out what the reactive mind is, and in the process find yourself. Have you ever suffered from a traumatic experience, a deep loss or been through a painful breakup? Has your ability to communicate suffered as a result? And after that, even though you "moved on" did you find that things were never quite the same? Have you ever looked at childhood photos, or reminisced your early life and wondered where that happiness and spark went? Are your emotions out of your own control? Have you ever felt, even if you aren’t aware of it, that possibly you are getting in your own way of your happiness and success? How does this affect your self-confidence? Find out what is at the root of all stress, anxiety, depression and self-doubt. Find out how and why you hold yourself back from achieving your goals and having the life you have dreamed of. As soon as you learn what is at the root of these unwanted conditions, you’ll see it is something you can DO something about. You will not be labeled or categorized at this MeetUp. This group is hosted by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
