What we're about

\

This is a club for those who love the beach and all that it represents here in southern California. Whether your gig is surfing, long-boarding, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, beach volleyball, paddle-ball, Frisbee, beach-fires, biking on the Newport boardwalk, walking in the sand, running in the water, sitting with an umbrella overhead and a drink in hand, or just getting a tan, this is your chance to meetup with other professionals in our quest for the Endless Summer.

This is a great one that we recommend.

Here's a great workout for legs and glutes with really great people as well! We run to the beach, do a steep ramp 1 to 10 times, run back to the China Cove stairs and do those 1 to 10 times (112 stairs), and then back up Goldenrod to the start. It takes about an hour, and you can go at any pace that you're comfortable going. The views are so wonderful, you may forget you're exercising!

We have all speeds from 15 min/mile walkers to 5 min/mile super humans! We don't leave anyone behind. This is a great run if you're just starting and want a group to keep you motivated.

We usually go to Whole Foods at Fashion Island afterwards for dinner and drinks. There's an outdoor fire-pit and heaters.

This event is CROSS-POSTED on 5 meetups. We typically have 15-70 people each week.

Distances:

Begonia Park to top of the little corona ramp: 1 mile.

Each ramp round trip: 0.25 miles.

From the ramp to stairs: 0.75 miles.

Stairs round trip: 0.1 miles.

Top or stairs back to Begonia Park: 0.5 miles.

So: If you do 1 ramp and 1 stair set, that's 2.7 miles. Do 7 and 7, and that's about 5 miles.

Important Note:
Please practice social distancing and all other CDC/WHO COVID19 guidelines. We prefer that you're vaccinated if you come to the our events.

CDM Beach Volleyball at Sunset

Corona Del Mar State Beach

Our 13th year tradition, and counting…..

Join us for some fun beach volleyball games. The best way to end your weekend, and get prepared for Monday, back to work! Enjoy the ocean breeze, the scenery, sound of the waves, and the happy people around. We start early afternoon, and play till sunset, or until all cry uncle! and that should leave enough time after the game for those who want to enjoy a bite and a drink nearby.

Those with limited experience are welcome, but are expected to try and improve their game. Our experience shows that after a few sessions, they do.

Notes and suggestions:

• Please try to RSVP by Saturday EOD. Also, your friends count on the number of players signed up, so don't be a flake, or I'll tell mom on you.

• Competition is encouraged, while all get to participate and play their position. Our approach is one of positive encouragement for improvement, and avoiding negative criticisms or complaints.

• You might consider a beach chair, an umbrella, socks... to make yourself comfortable.

• If you arrive early and see a court available, own it! All you need is a ball or lines.

Parking:

Parking up the hill is FREE. Parking near the beach is metered. ARRIVE EARLY in summer. It may take a little time to find a parking spot.

Court:

Our court lines are ORANGE or YELLOW. There is no guarantee that we can get a court, but we always have. Most often, one of the southside courts. If not, walk north and CHECK other courts (towards the jetty), as shown in the map below.

Down Memory Lane

Last summer, we saw some big waves during our games. This was July 7, 2014. It looked like a tsunami. All our courts were flooded. We had our bags against the bushes, and a few times had to pick them up as the waves went past the bushes and into the drive way behind. You can see more pictures in the photo album. surreal!
