Welcome to an Endorphin Squeeze Event!
Are you ready to challenge yourself and push your limits?! Join us for the exhilarating "Endorphin Squeeze" conditioning series!- Purpose-Driven Adventures: These hikes are not your leisurely stroll through the park! Be prepared to embark on journeys that are carefully crafted to improve stamina, strength and agility.
- Pace and Difficulty: These events are tailored for those who are beyond the beginner stage and ready for a workout. We maintain a steady pace of at least 2.7mph, challenging you to keep up and keep moving!
Today’s event will be visiting a relatively new hike on my roster that I have enjoyed thoroughly and just knew I was going to include in future conditioning series.
The Crown Zellerbach Natural Scenic Trail is truly an amazing one of a kind hike. You’ll not find an easier and more magnificent 21 miles than this one. I am eager to get to experience it once again with you all. With a storied past rooted deeply in the natural history of this area, Crown Z follows along the Nahelem River as it gradually ascends into and towards one of the lowest passages across Oregon’s Coastal Range.Recreation may be the main purpose of this trail, but there are plenty of educational opportunities also. Throughout its length, there are 23 interpretive kiosks and 60 signs that highlight why this trail is special. Whether it’s the history that ranges from Indigenous peoples, through the railroad era, to apple orchards; the rivers of molten rock and glacial floods that created the rock formations; or the local plants and wildlife, there is always something to learn about the trail.
Carpooling/Driving
I will be needing at least one (depending on how many people RSVP) volunteer to help with the carpooling situation. We will need to meet up at 09:15am at 1800 E Knott St. Vernonia, OR. From there we will consolidate into as few vehicles as possible and drive (NLT 09:30am) to the other end of the trail at Dike Rd. in Scappoose where we will begin the hike. This drive is approx 30min long. If you are running late you may just have to drive to Scappoose, so please plan accordingly.
Passengers, please pay your driver for gas. Approx. 10¢ per mile. It is 30mi driving from one end to the other, so approx. $6 total. Or whatever the driver is comfortable with. Bring exact cash so drivers don’t have to make change.Parking/Fees
There are no fees associated with these parking locations. If you’re driving directly to the trailhead the driving directions can be found on AllTrails when you look up Crown Zellerbach Trail. Look for my Blue Ford Escape at the end of E Knott St. in Vernonia. There is a small gravel lot at the end of the street just to the Right of the trailhead gate.

Description📜
This is a bonus hike in a series of 20+beginner friendly hikes that cover the entire 80+ miles of trails in Forest Park! Because not all of the trails can be done as independent loops (and we will be doubling over our path many times) it will require hiking more than 115 miles to complete the entire challenge! If you miss a hike, no worries, we have this series twice a year and makeup hikes can be arranged.Let’s get a little extra and visit a seldom seen splotch of Forest Park via Burlington Creek Forest! We can celebrate a great first half of the year completing the series and toast to the next one to come!
On the way in you may have noticed a Troll Bridge! I highly recommend bringing some sort of Troll memorabilia to contribute to this community created shrine of Forest goblins! 🧌
We will be doing a short loop around Burlington Creek Forest until we reach the satellite segment of Forest Park. Alongside a short O&B we will be walking to the Troll Bridge (decommissioned train trellis) and contributing/taking our group shot there.
Bonus Points if you dress up like a troll! 😈
Afterwards let’s head over to Jamaica🇯🇲House for some delicious food and more good vibes!Difficulty💪🏽
This IS a beginner friendly hike, as we will be keeping a pace of an average of 2-2.5mph throughout, could be slightly faster/slower depending on groups’ abilities. I try to go as fast as the slowest person will allow me. This can be difficult for some that have sedentary lifestyles, so please don’t be discouraged if at first you don’t succeed, just try try try again.Carpooling/Driving🚗🚙
Since this is in town, I will not be carpooling myself, but if you wish to do so please organize that on your own in the Event Chat/Comments section.

- ☀️Forest Bathing N.O.W.🕉️@ Hopkins Demonstration Forest!🌲Hopkins Demonstration Forest, Oregon City, OR
🗣️ 📜 In a world that relentlessly races forward, finding moments to pause can seem an unaffordable luxury. Yet, here, among moss and lichen covered trees and the whispering winds that tease the leaves, time appears to slow.… we will follow nature’s cues with these change of pace events.
Experience first-hand the subtle yet profound art of forest bathing — roughly translated from the Japanese ‘Shinrin-yoku’, which succinctly encapsulates the embodiment of nature’s therapeutic properties through immersive experiences, engaging in various observation techniques that heighten our sensory awareness and also deepen our connections.
As seasons transition, so will the themes, mirroring the concept of 'Changing Seasons, Changing Selves.' This approach not only highlights the ecological dynamics of our surroundings but also reflects our internal seasonal shifts — mental, emotional, and spiritual and emphasizes the infinitely complex ways we are all connected.
The changing landscapes serve as a perfect backdrop for discussions on ecology and the supporting science, enriching our knowledge and appreciation of the natural world.Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist or a city dweller yearning for a taste of the wild, our Forest Bathing and Natural Observation Walk offers a refreshing perspective and a rejuvenating break from the hustle of modern existence . Embrace the opportunity to explore, learn, and grow amidst the beauty of nature. Let’s breathe, walk, and meditate together, finding wellness in the wilderness within.
Difficulty💪🏽
These events are not intended to be physically strenuous…. These events are thoughtfully designed for those who seek solace in the slow-paced rhythms of nature, allowing for a deep breath of fresh air, literally and metaphorically. Hello fellow Endorphin Drippers! I am inviting you all to join me again this year for our 7th Annual Wildwood Trail Thru Hike! Group size will be determined by number of drivers available.
Every summer solstice we take the liberty of doing the longest hike in Portland on the longest day of the year.
The Wildwood Trail is a very well known gem that Portland offers to any intrepid hikers seeking a truly awesome challenge that is completely within reach. The Tualatin Mountain Range boasts this amazing National Recreation Trail as one of its main features (aside from Dixie Mountain, much further NW than we will be). It is by far one of my favorite hikes within Portland city limits and the longest soft-surfaced hiking trail within an urban boundary in the United States. One of the best ways to get to see the true magnificence of Forest Park’s 5,200+acres, the Wildwood Trail meanders along the extended spine of Forest Park’s 7mile stretch giving you the most bang for your buck. The main goal of today is not to race or make records, but to enjoy Forest Park for all its worth. This is a day for fun and laughs while we gawk and awe over the beauty in our backyards alongside even more wonderful company.
Once we are finished we can go back up the hill towards the arboretum to enjoy a group picnic party with everyone else!Group 1 (🔴Red Team): I will be maintaining a +3mph pace throughout the hike, with the moving pace being a bit higher at times. I expect to take at least 4 breaks along the way to give us time to eat/drink/medical check and recap valuable energy without stalling out. The amount of stops and length of each one will be very specific (three 10min stops and one 30min) and regulated.
Group 2 (🟡Yellow Team): Wonder Woman Michelle J. will be leading a new and exciting group this year! This will be a self paced 30mi group! Just as you’d imagine with a name like that, this heat will be done at each individual’s own pace (quickly or not ((but no slower than 2.5mph)). Break as needed.
Carpooling/Driving: Meeting at the Hoyt Arboretum. Arrive at 6:15am. Caravan leaves to Newberry Trailhead at 6:30am. We will be at the TH and ready to go by 7:00am.
Passengers, please pay your driver for gas/time costs. Please give your drivers $7. Please bring exact cash so drivers don’t have to worry about making change.
Parking/Fees: None at Newberry Trailhead, Germantown Rd., Hoyt Arboretum (along SW Fairview Rd), or Pittock Mansion (along NW Pittock Dr.).
Expectation: No one gets left behind. That is our Golden Rule. Our events are group events so everybody is expected to hike together and not ahead or behind the group. By signing up for these events you have implied your agreement to follow this rule.
Safety/First-Aid: Please, do not come to events with symptoms/suspicions of being ill. Stay at home if you’re sick or think you may be!
LEAVE YOUR VALUABLES AT HOME!
Leave valuables at home or at least make sure they are not visible from outside vehicles.Recommendations

Hello fellow Endorphin Drippers! I am inviting you all to join me for this years’ Summer Solstice Event!
One of the best ways to get to see the true magnificence of Forest Park’s 5,200+acres, the Wildwood Trail meanders along the extended spine of Forest Park’s 7mile stretch giving you the most bang for your buck.Since not everyone has the ability, time or desire to do it all, let’s appreciate it in something a bit more manageable at about 8.5mi. We will start our hike at the same time the thru hikers should be finishing their Trail Angel stop. You are welcome to try to keep up with them as much as you are able, but we will be doing our own pace that may or may not be at theirs.
The main goal of today is not to race or make records, but to enjoy Forest Park for all its worth. This is a day for fun and laughs while we gawk and awe over the beauty in our backyards alongside even more wonderful company.
Let’s have some fun and enjoy this wonderful resource we all have the honors to get to share! We won’t be going slow or quickly, but more like a spryly conversational pace. Once we are finished we can go back up the hill towards the arboretum to enjoy a group picnic party with everyone else!I will be able to take about 8-12 individuals depending on the carpool situation.
Carpooling/Driving: Meeting at the Hoyt Arboretum. Arrive at 01:15pm. Caravan leaves to the NW 53rd Dr. Trailhead at 01:30pm. We will be at the TH and ready to go by 02:30pm.
Passengers, please pay your driver for gas/time costs. Please give your drivers $4. Please bring exact change so drivers don’t have to worry about it.
Parking/Fees: None at Hoyt Arboretum (along SW Fairview Rd), or NW 53rd Dr.
Expectation: No one gets left behind. That is our Golden Rule. Our events are group events so everybody is expected to hike together and not ahead or behind the group. By signing up for these events you have implied your agreement to follow this rule.

We may be hiking among other groups doing the Wildwood, You are welcome to try to keep up with them as much as you are able, but we will be doing our own pace that may or may not be at theirs.
