CANCELLED!! Hike at Hill Country State Natural Area in Bandera
Details
Please join and experience the beautiful remote natural area. You will not be disappointed. If you love challenging hikes, this hike will fulfil your craving.
This hike is on rugged and rocky trails with some challenging steep hills. We will reach above 1,800 feet. The view from the top of the mountains is gorgeous. Also we will hike up to at least two more mountain peaks (and probably more if participants want to try) 1,600+ feet elevation with awesome 360 degree views. We will also visit a pond for a change of scenery, and relax on natural flat rock benches for lunch. Our hike will be 1,200+ feet of total combined elevation gains on 7 - 9+ miles. We hike at brisk pace as always, and fast pace and slow pace are not expected. Hiking boots are suitable. Wear layered clothing. Long pants are preferred to avoid scratches on legs because yucca plants next to trails have sharp edges. Bring lunch and snacks, and plenty of water (A MUST).
We will meet at 9:30 am at the park headquarters, or for carpooling: We will meet at 8:30 am at the side entrance of Home Depot building behind Whataburger at I-10 and highway 46. Please post messages if you would like to carpool.
Entrance fees: $6.00 without Texas state parks pass; $3.00 with Texas parklands passport for seniors. Passes are available at the park headquarters. If you are eligible for a senior pass, you must show proof of date of birth (at least 65 years old). There is no gate to collect fees. Please pay your fee in the headquarters after you parked your car.
Note: I would like to mention that you are in the wilderness once you left the trail head.
