Differential Privacy

Details

At this month's Engineering Privacy meetup, we will discuss "differential privacy," why it's useful for protecting privacy, when to use it, and case studies at Google's SF offices.

  • Learn the challenges related to making data anonymous; how anonymous is anonymized data really?
  • Learn what differential privacy is within the context of privacy engineering and how it enables companies to collect information about their users and conduct analytics without compromising the privacy of individuals.
  • Learn about successful documented and open source implementations of differential privacy at companies like Google, Apple, and Uber.

There will be a 30 minute intro from Ilya Mironov, Staff Research Scientist, at Google followed by a panel discussion:

Moderator:

  • Debra J. Farber, Sr. Director, Privacy Strategy at BigID

Panelists:

  • Ilya Mironov, Staff Research Scientist at Google
  • Nikita Mishra, Applied Scientist at Twitch
  • Bennett Cyphers, Staff Engineering at The Electronic Frontier Foundation
